Current Position:

I am exited to say that this is going to be my third year as Spanish High School teacher at Evant ISD!

Previous Position:

In October, 2006, I started my career as a teacher in Aldine ISD Houston TX. in a second grade bilingual position. I worked in this district for two years before to moving to Austin, TX. In Austin I thought in AISD for 8 years. The first year I was hired as a kindergarten bilingual teacher and then was moved to second grade were I remained until I moved to Evant.

My passion for teaching started when I was fifteen years old. At that time I was an active member of a Catholic church.  We used to go on Saturdays to communities that were in extreme poverty to teach people religion, as well as how to read and write. I saw how this changed, in a positive way, the life of the children as well as the adults. Since then I saw my life with a purpose; the purpose of teaching.

In 2005 the company I was employed by decided to move to another city. That lead me to do an alternative program to become a teacher here in Texas. Now I am blessed to do what I love the most and get paid to do it!

Family Information:

My husband, James Garland, and I have been married for nine years now. We have a beautiful daughter named Maya. She is a proud member of the Elks family and is very excited to start this school year in the first grade! My husband works on the family farm where we raise cattle and meat goats. I am still getting accustomed to the country life, but so far I love it!

Personal Information:

There a lot of things that I like to do when I am not at school. I love to take long walks with our daughter, Maya, and talk about our day. On Wednesday’s my husband, James, and I dance. I love to dance! and James is willing to learn some rythms or just practice with me any dance that I am up to! Another thing that I love to do is stretch my muscles with a yoga routine. I try to practice as much as I can.
