EMT Students Near Certification

Our growing P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College-High School) and CTE (Career Technical Education) EMT course was recently featured on KWTX news with an on-site interview featuring students and instructors.

Key points from the interview include how students at Evant ISD can now earn their EMT certification before graduating high school through a new program introduced at the start of this school year.

Riley Stephens, a former teacher who went on to become an EMT, says he jumped at the opportunity to bring EMT training to the high school level.

“The idea actually started with James, he was the instructor over the curriculum we’re actually using, and he was trying to figure out a way to get into high schools,” Stephens recalled.

Together they started an EMT program at Evant ISD, the district where Stephens started off his teaching career.
